We're looking for a motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Disabled People's Benefits Advice Trainee. This is an excellent opportunity to gain specialist skills through a structured training programme while making a real difference to people's lives.
About the role
You'll receive training and support to become a skilled welfare benefits adviser, beginning with Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and progressing to other health-related benefits including Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Attendance Allowance, Universal Credit and Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).
As your knowledge develops, you'll learn how to:
- Support clients to complete benefit applications
- Explain processes, deadlines and assessments
- Check forms and supporting evidence
- Provide one-to-one advice and guidance
- Support clients through Mandatory Reconsiderations
- Deliver information sessions and group support
About you
We're looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about supporting Disabled people
- Has excellent communication and listening skills
- Is organised and pays close attention to detail
- Can work sensitively with confidential information
- Is eager to learn and develop specialist knowledge
- Shares WECIL's commitment to inclusion and empowerment
Previous benefits advice experience is not required. We welcome applicants with transferable skills from advice, advocacy, customer service, community work, health, social care or the voluntary sector.
