Job Vacancy: In-House Cleaner – Nursery Setting
Location: Duchess Nursery Abingdon
Hours: 3 hours, twice a week 6pm-9pm*
Salary: £10.00–£13.00 per hour (depending on experience & national minimum wage)
Start Date: As soon as possible
We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented In-House Cleaner to join our friendly nursery team and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our children, staff, and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all nursery areas are cleaned to a high standard, including playrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, staff areas, and communal spaces.
- Attention to detail cleaning areas with high volumes of usage.
- Daily cleaning duties including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and sanitising surfaces
- Cleaning and disinfecting toys, furniture, and equipment in accordance with health and safety guidelines
- Safe disposal of any waste
- Replenish supplies such as toilet paper, soap, paper towels, etc.
- Follow all infection control procedures and hygiene standards, especially important in a nursery setting
- Report any maintenance or hygiene concerns to the nursery manager
Requirements:
- Previous cleaning experience (preferably in a childcare or school setting, but not essential)
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
- A good understanding of hygiene, cleanliness, and infection control
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one prior to start)
- Friendly and respectful attitude – working within a team that supports young children
- Working hours outside of operating nursery hours, ideally from 6pm. (Ideally 2 days of 3 hours work, but this is negotiable.)
