Trunking Delivery Driver – Somerset to Kent
Overview
We are seeking a reliable and professional Trunking Delivery Driver based in Somerset to join our team delivering eco-friendly coffins to funeral directors, crematoriums, cemeteries and other locations.
The role primarily involves driving from Somerset to Kent and returning, with several deliveries and collections completed along the route each day. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys long-distance driving and takes pride in providing a respectful, dependable and professional service.
Working hours will usually begin at approximately 12:30pm. Some flexibility and occasional overtime may be required depending on delivery schedules and traffic conditions.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a company van between Somerset, Kent and designated delivery locations.
- Complete several deliveries and collections during each shift.
- Follow planned trunking routes and delivery schedules.
- Load, secure and unload coffins carefully, ensuring they remain in excellent condition throughout transit.
- Provide a courteous, discreet and respectful service when visiting funeral directors, crematoriums, cemeteries and related organisations.
- Obtain proof of delivery and complete all required documentation accurately.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance concerns.
- Communicate effectively with customers and the operations team regarding schedules, delays or other issues.
- Comply with road traffic laws, health and safety requirements and company policies.
- Assist with vehicle loading, stock organisation and other warehouse duties when required.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence with a clean or near-clean driving record.
- Previous delivery or trunking experience preferred.
- Comfortable driving long distances and completing multiple deliveries.
- Able to load and unload products safely.
- Excellent time-management and organisational skills.
- Professional, respectful and customer-focused manner.
- Able to work independently and represent the company positively.
- Flexible regarding working hours and occasional overtime.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual and comfortable working later shifts.
