Alliance Pioneer Group (APG) are recruiting for Self Employed Ambulance Care Assistants to work from our Plymouth base for ad-hoc shifts.
Ambulance Care Assistants work with a diverse range of patients, including the elderly, sick, disabled and vulnerable individuals. This role requires transporting non-emergency patients to and from hospital appointments, nursing homes, residential homes and more, ensuring the safety and comfort of all patients on board our ambulances in a timely manner, whilst delivering a high standard of patient care, maintaining the ambulance and its equipment and keeping accurate records of journeys.
All staff must have a positive attitude, be well presented and have good communication skills. You must be caring and compassionate. As part of the team, you must be able to follow instructions, provide good customer care, and have a friendly and approachable manner.
Experience of working in a health care profession would be advantageous but full training will be provided for this role. Prospective staff should live within reasonable distance of Plymouth.
Shift times can vary depending on the transport job requirements. Currently we are putting shifts out that are 0800-1800, 0900-1900, 1600-2200, but there are also daily requests for shorter jobs, so hours and times can totally vary.
Ambulance Care Assistants work from our Plymouth base and pay starts from £13.50p/h.
All work is on a self-employed, ad-hoc basis so anyone working with us will need to register as self-employed with HMRC and get a Unique Tax Reference Number (UTR) as they will liable to pay their own tax and NI.
Please find below the essential criteria for the ACA role:
- Hold a full UK manual driving licence for at least 12 months, with no more than 6 penalty points
- Be 19 years of age or older
- Be a careful and considerate driver
- Understand patients' abilities, conditions, and limitations
- Possess good people skills with a caring, polite, and friendly manner
- Be physically fit, as the role involves moving/lifting and assisting patients
- Have flexible availability
- Be available for immediate and regular shifts
- Be local to our Plymouth base as all shifts start and finish here (PL67TL)
All successful candidates will be provided with a free 3-4 day training induction.
