Experienced Cook – Haybale Café Bar & Restaurant

We’re looking for an experienced, reliable and enthusiastic Cook to join our brand-new Haybale Café Bar & Restaurant, located at the beautiful Haystax Holiday Park near Lanchester.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at the very beginning and play an important role in helping us establish The Haybale as a welcoming, relaxed and enjoyable place for both holidaymakers and local customers.
We are looking for a Cook with previous experience working in the hospitality or food industry. This is a hands-on role and we need someone who is confident in a kitchen environment, can work independently when required and is ready to get started straight away.
What the role will involve
As a Cook, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and cooking food to a consistently good standard
- Preparing ingredients and carrying out food preparation
- Following recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards
- Preparing food for our café, bar and restaurant customers
- Working efficiently during busy service periods
- Ensuring food is prepared and served promptly
- Working closely with the front-of-house team
- Keeping the kitchen clean, tidy and organised
- Following food hygiene and health & safety procedures
- Maintaining good food storage and stock rotation
- Helping to minimise food waste
- Assisting with general kitchen duties when required
What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working in a professional kitchen or hospitality/food environment
- Is confident preparing and cooking a range of straightforward dishes
- Can work efficiently and stay calm during busy periods
- Is reliable, hardworking and punctual
- Can work independently as well as part of a team
- Takes pride in preparing and serving good-quality food
- Has a good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
- Is flexible and willing to get involved wherever needed
- Has a positive attitude and good work ethic
- Is available to start immediately
This is a Cook position, not a Chef position, but previous industry experience is essential. We need someone who can come into the kitchen, understand what is required and be ready to get stuck in from day one.

Interviews will be taking place over the next couple of days, so applicants must be available to attend an interview at short notice and be ready to start immediately if successful.
Evening and weekend availability is essential. Please only apply if you are able to work evenings and weekends as part of your regular availability.

You’ll be preparing food for holidaymakers, families and local customers in a unique holiday-park environment rather than a typical high-street café or restaurant.
As a brand-new establishment, you’ll have the opportunity to join us from the very beginning and help us build The Haybale into a popular destination for both visitors and the local community.
Hours & Pay
This is a part-time position, with hours and shifts to be discussed.
Hourly rate and expected hours will be discussed at interview.
