The Great Barr Hotel is seeking an Operations & Commercial Manager to lead day-to-day operations while driving business growth. This dual-focused role combines leadership of Front of House, Food & Beverage, and Housekeeping with responsibility for corporate account retention, revenue generation, and event profitability. The ideal candidate will ensure exceptional guest experiences while proactively developing and growing the hotel’s commercial opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership:
- Lead and motivate Front of House, Food & Beverage, and Housekeeping teams to consistently deliver high standards of service.
- Oversee weddings, tribute nights, and other hotel events to ensure seamless execution and profitability.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest feedback and online reviews to enhance the hotel’s reputation.
- Prepare operational reports and monitor budgets using Opera PMS and SiteMinder.
Commercial & Business Development:
- Retain and grow corporate accounts, developing strong relationships with key clients in Birmingham and the Midlands.
- Identify opportunities to upsell services, offer VIP treatment, and deliver complimentary room upgrades to enhance loyalty and revenue.
- Collaborate closely with the sales team to generate new business leads and convert opportunities into long-term clients.
- Analyse revenue performance, monitor event profitability, and recommend strategies to maximise yield.
- Develop and implement initiatives to attract new corporate, leisure, and group business while maintaining high service standards.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in hotel operations with a strong track record in business development or commercial management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Opera PMS and SiteMinder.
- Experience managing corporate accounts, VIP guests, and high-profile events.
- Strong financial acumen, including budget management and revenue reporting.
- Flexible and hands-on approach, including availability for evenings, weekends, and during events.
