Who we are
Founded in 1902, Brace’s Bakery is proud to be one of Wales’s most loved bakery brands. With a rich family heritage, the business has been shaped by four generations of the Brace family and continues to build on those strong foundations today.
Now part of the Boparan Private Office portfolio, we are entering an exciting new phase of investment and growth. We supply a wide range of bread products to major retailers as well as many independent stores across our distribution region, with our reputation firmly rooted in product quality and excellent customer service.
Following the recent consolidation of our production into a single site, we are well positioned to drive innovation, launch new product ranges, and expand into new markets.
As we move into this exciting new era, we are looking for a reliable and detail-focused Hygiene Co-ordinator to join our team.
The Role
As Hygiene Co-ordinator, you will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, food safety and housekeeping across our bakery operation. Reporting to the Hygiene Manager, you will supervise the Hygiene team, ensuring cleaning activities are completed effectively, safely and in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to motivate and develop a team. You will be instrumental in ensuring the site remains audit-ready and compliant with all relevant food safety, health and safety, and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the Hygiene team, allocating daily tasks and ensuring all activities are completed to the required standard.
- Deliver on-the-job training and coaching to team members, maintaining accurate training records.
- Plan, organise and review daily hygiene activities and cleaning schedules.
- Develop and maintain hygiene work instructions, risk assessments and associated documentation.
- Conduct regular site hygiene audits and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support compliance with COSHH, Food Safety, Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Liaise with production, dispatch, food safety and operational teams to ensure hygiene standards support business requirements.
- Ensure hygiene documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Monitor housekeeping standards across production and distribution areas.
- Support people management activities including attendance, performance, disciplinary and grievance processes.
- Escalate equipment or hygiene-related concerns and work closely with relevant departments to resolve issues.
- Promote a strong food safety and "clean as you go" culture throughout the site.
- Train staff on proper hygiene procedures, safety protocols, and the correct use of cleaning equipment.
- Maintain detailed records of cleaning activities, inspections, and compliance checks for audit purposes.
- Support the implementation of health initiatives by promoting best practices in sanitation across all departments.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience within a food manufacturing, FMCG or hygiene environment.
- Experience leading, supervising or coordinating teams.
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Good record-keeping and administrative skills.
- Strong relationship-building skills with colleagues across multiple departments.
Why Join Brace's Bakery?
- Join one of Wales's most recognised and trusted bakery brands.
- Be part of an exciting period of investment, growth and innovation.
- Opportunity to make a real impact within a key operational function.
