Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in food preparation and safety, with prior experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in meal preparation, ensuring that all dishes meet our highest standards for quality and presentation.
Currently, we serve lunch five days a week, from Tuesday to Saturday inclusive. However, there are plans to expand our offering to include breakfasts and evening meals on select days, with final details to be confirmed. A job share arrangement may be considered, and start and finish times can be adjusted to accommodate child commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to recipes and menus.
- Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and standards.
- Assist in menu planning, taking into account dietary restrictions and customer preferences.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service, particularly during busy periods.
- Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and report shortages to management as needed.
- Assist with training new kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and safety protocols.
- Support the maintenance and adherence to all health and safety matters in the kitchen, including preparation and updating of risk assessments.
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Cook or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant or catering environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and the use of kitchen equipment.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practice standards.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail in meal presentation.
- A genuine passion for cooking and creating high-quality dishes that delight customers.
Qualifications
- A recognised qualification in food preparation and cooking is desirable.
- A three star food safety award is required.
