An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially aware Senior Project Manager to join a growing engineering and manufacturing business specialising in bespoke power generation, switchgear, acoustic enclosures and critical infrastructure solutions.
The business delivers complex engineered projects across the UK and Europe, supporting sectors including data centres, utilities, industrial, infrastructure and standby power.
The successful candidate will take ownership of complex engineering projects from contract award through design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and final handover.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of projects from handover through to completion and customer handover.
- Manage multiple engineering and manufacturing projects simultaneously.
- Develop and maintain project programmes, plans, risk registers and reporting.
- Act as the main point of contact for customers, consultants, suppliers and internal teams.
- Lead project kick-off meetings, design reviews, progress meetings and close-outs.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality, logistics, installation and commissioning.
- Monitor budgets, variations, costs, margins and commercial risks.
- Identify and manage project risks, delays, technical issues and changes.
- Ensure drawings, specifications, inspection records, O&M manuals and handover documentation are completed.
- Support procurement and supplier management.
- Provide regular project updates to senior management.
- Drive continuous improvement across project delivery.
- Support UK and European projects, including occasional travel.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager with a background in engineering, manufacturing, construction, power generation or a similar technical environment.
You should be commercially aware, highly organised and confident managing customers, suppliers and internal teams across complex projects.
Essential Experience
- Proven project management experience within an engineering, manufacturing, construction, power generation, switchgear, mechanical/electrical or critical infrastructure environment.
- Experience delivering technically complex or bespoke engineered projects.
- Strong understanding of project programmes, budgets, risk management and change control.
- Customer and stakeholder management experience.
- Commercial awareness, including variations, costs and project margins.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Competent with Microsoft Office and project planning software.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe.
Desirable Experience
- Power generation or generator packages.
- Switchgear and control systems.
- Acoustic enclosures.
- Data centre infrastructure.
- Packaged plant rooms or modular buildings.
- Installation and commissioning projects.
- European project delivery.
- NEC, JCT or similar contracts.
- ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 environments.
Qualifications
Formal qualifications are desirable, but proven experience delivering complex engineering projects will be equally valued.
Relevant qualifications may include:
- APM PMQ or equivalent.
- PRINCE2 Practitioner.
- PMP.
- HNC, HND or degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- IOSH, SMSTS or equivalent.
- CSCS or equivalent site safety qualification.
- NEC4 or contract management training.
Working Hours
37.5 hours per week
Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am – 1:30pm
The business is closed for Bank Holidays, with a Christmas shutdown through to the New Year.
