What you need to know about the role
As the focal point for shift operations, the Shift Manager will lead the shift team and oversee all aspects of Rolling, Finishing and Despatch operations. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you’ll be responsible for achieving production targets, maintaining safety and quality standards, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the shift operation team across furnace, rolling, cooling, finishing and despatching areas across multidiscipline including Operations, Technical and Engineering
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve equipment issues.
- Execute shift performance and contribute to operational planning to achieve daily, weekly and long term production targets.
- Ensure material rolled meetings customer requirements and specifications, and communicate to teams trial information for new product development of process improvements
- When deviations to SOP’s and FMEA’s occur, conduct failure reduction sessions and root cause analysis to ensure containment actions are in place and identify immediate corrective and preventative actions
- Coach and Mentor teams and support workforce development, including training plans for individuals to create a flexible working team
Your reach will extend beyond Finishing and Despatch operations. You’ll:
- Collaborate with Operational, Engineering Technical, and Planning teams to drive production targets and delivery performance.
- Oversee and develop skills through our Lean Six Sigma programme, supporting teams in uncovering opportunities for operational improvement and growth.
- Continue to support and build upon our IATF 16949 standard to ensure full compliance with Automotive values
