Estimator / Junior Estimator (Civil Engineering)

About the Role
Burden Bros Construction Ltd is looking for an enthusiastic Estimator to join our ever-growing civil engineering and construction team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in civil engineering, groundworks or construction who is looking to take the next step in their career. Whether you're currently an Assistant Estimator, Junior Estimator, Graduate Estimator, or have gained estimating experience in a site or commercial role, we'll provide the support and training needed to help you develop.
Working alongside our Commercial Manager and experienced commercial team, you'll assist in preparing competitive tenders for a wide range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing estimates and tender quotations using Causeway estimating software (training provided where required).
- Producing take-offs, bills of quantities and schedules of rates.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents.
- Obtaining quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of tender documentation.
- Maintaining tender registers and estimating databases.
- Preparing information for project delivery teams following contract award.
- Attending site visits to gather project information when required.
- Liaising with clients, suppliers and colleagues throughout the tender process.
- Assisting with the preparation of reports for tender adjudication.
- Supporting the commercial team with compensation events and variations where required.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Experience within civil engineering, groundworks or the construction industry.
- Some estimating or quantity surveying experience, or a genuine desire to move into estimating from a related role.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience using Causeway or similar estimating software.
- HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Understanding of methods of measurement.
- Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
