Funeral Director
Location: Essex
Salary: £32,000–£42,000 per annum, depending on experience

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate and highly professional Funeral Director to join our growing team in Essex.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for funeral arrangements from the initial meeting with a family through to the successful delivery and conducting of the funeral.
This position requires someone who can combine exceptional care for bereaved families with strong organisational and operational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Meeting bereaved families and making complete funeral arrangements.
- Listening carefully to families and ensuring their individual wishes are understood and delivered.
- Providing professional guidance regarding funeral options and arrangements.
- Conducting funerals and taking responsibility for the professional delivery of funeral services.
- Coordinating with churches, crematoria, cemeteries, clergy, celebrants and other third parties.
- Ensuring statutory, administrative and funeral documentation is completed correctly.
- Maintaining regular and compassionate communication with families.
- Working closely with our Funeral Arrangers and Operations & Logistics team.
- Checking funeral instructions, timings, staffing, vehicles and individual service requirements.
- Managing last-minute changes and resolving problems calmly and professionally.
- Overseeing funeral crews on the day of a service.
- Managing and attending community events.
- Supporting and guiding Funeral Arrangers and Funeral Operatives.
- Maintaining the exceptionally high standards of dignity, presentation and service expected by Heartfelt.
About You
We are particularly interested in candidates with previous funeral directing or substantial funeral-arranging experience.
You should be confident managing your own caseload, arranging funerals independently and conducting funeral services.
You will need excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to remain calm and professional in emotionally sensitive and time-critical situations.
A full UK driving licence is essential.

Salary within each advertised range will be determined according to experience, qualifications, responsibilities and suitability for the position.
