Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Truck Driver to join our logistics team to cover trunk from Coatbridge to Dartford - Birmingham returning to Cumbernauld, Monday 4pm start returning Tuesday evening and Friday 4pm start Coatbridge to Dartford returning Saturday evening. Due to nature of job, two nights away from base each week are part of the job.
As a Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods to various locations. This role requires a strong commitment to safety and efficiency, as well as the ability to navigate diverse road conditions. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills and a valid commercial driving licence with minimum two years recent driving experience. ADR packages qualification preferred, training will be provided if not qualified.
Responsibilities
- Operate lorries in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all traffic regulations and company policies.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring proper securing of cargo, particularly for curtain side deliveries
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols while on the road and at delivery sites.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, preferably with a focus on delivery driving and curtainsiders
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for transporting goods.
- Excellent navigation skills, with the ability to read maps and use GPS technology effectively.
- Good physical fitness to handle loading and unloading tasks as well as long hours on the road.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate delivery records.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and professionalism in all interactions.
