About Us
We are a leading house builder committed to delivering high-quality residential developments across the region. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Design Manager (Layouts) to join our team and play a key role in the successful planning and design of our developments.
The Role
As Design Manager (Layouts), you will be responsible for managing the design and layout process from land acquisition through planning and technical approval stages. Working closely with land, planning, technical, and commercial teams, you will ensure developments are designed to maximise land value while meeting planning requirements and delivering attractive, sustainable communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage site layout designs for residential developments.
- Coordinate external consultants including architects, engineers, and planning specialists.
- Assess development opportunities and provide layout input during land appraisals.
- Ensure layouts comply with planning policies, building regulations, and company standards.
- Work closely with internal teams to optimise site efficiency and profitability.
- Support planning applications and attend meetings with local authorities where required.
- Manage design programmes and ensure project deadlines are achieved.
- Identify and resolve design issues throughout the development process.
About You
- Previous experience in a Design Manager, Layout Designer, or Technical Design role within the housebuilding sector.
- Strong understanding of residential layout design and planning requirements.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and relevant design software.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced development environment.
- Full UK driving licence.
