The Role
We're looking for a caring, reliable, and skilled Complex Care Support Worker to provide one-to-one support to a client with Rett Syndrome and associated complex needs in the Folkestone area. This role involves personal care, manual handling, and medication administration, so previous experience or relevant training is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, person-centred support to a client with Rett Syndrome, profound and multiple disabilities, and complex physical needs
- Carry out manual handling safely, using appropriate equipment and techniques (training provided)
- Support with positioning and moving to ensure comfort and prevent injury
- Administer medication in line with care plans and training, including seizure management protocols
- Monitor for seizure activity and respond appropriately per the care/emergency plan
- Support with all aspects of personal care, daily living activities, and mobility
- Support communication using the client's preferred methods, given her communication disabilities
- Support community access, appointments, and activities, including transport where needed
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and communication logs
- Work closely with family members, healthcare professionals, and the wider care team
- Promote dignity, comfort, and quality of life at all times
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence with access to own vehicle
- Experience or willingness to train in manual handling techniques
- Experience or willingness to train in medication administration
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, Rett Syndrome, seizure management, and profound and multiple disabilities
- Patient, gentle, and attentive approach, particularly given the client's communication needs
- Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Previous experience supporting individuals with Rett Syndrome, profound and multiple disabilities, or complex physical needs
- Existing training in manual handling, medication administration, or seizure management
