Administration Officer
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable Clerical Officer to provide general administrative support across the team at Spennymoor, DL16 6YP. This role will involve maintaining accurate records, preparing correspondence, managing communications, and supporting HR and payroll documentation processes. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and experience in clerical roles, with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative and secretarial support to the team
- Maintain accurate records, filing systems, and documentation
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and meeting notes as required
- Manage incoming and outgoing communications, including emails and telephone calls
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating meetings, appointments, and events
- Support compliance requirements, including identity checks, eligibility to work verification, and other standard documentation processes
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth administrative operations
- Assist with HR and payroll documentation processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Support health and safety requirements as applicable
Requirements
Must-Have Requirements
- Experience in clerical, administrative, or secretarial roles
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Basic IT skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Nice-to-Have Requirements
- Previous experience working within a local authority or public sector environment
- Knowledge of HR, payroll, or compliance processes
- Experience managing scheduling, meetings, or diary coordination
- Familiarity with online compliance or document management systems
- NVQ or equivalent qualification in Administration or Business Support
Working Arrangements
- Contract: 2+ months
- Working Pattern: Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 (37 hours per week)
- Rate: £12.85 per hour
