Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This role is hybrid but based from our Bridgend office (3 days a week in office).
Your future duties and responsibilities
As a Configuration Manager, you will lead the delivery and governance of the Service Asset & Configuration Management (SACM) function, ensuring the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) remains accurate, trusted, and aligned to business and operational needs. You'll work across internal teams, customers, and third-party suppliers to establish consistent configuration management practices, maintain robust governance, and support the successful delivery of secure, high-quality services.
You'll play a key role in driving continual improvement across configuration and asset management processes, strengthening data quality, supporting service transition, and ensuring audit readiness across complex IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments. Your expertise will help enhance operational resilience, support regulatory compliance, and enable informed decision-making through accurate configuration data.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead & Govern the Service Asset & Configuration Management (SACM) function across supported services.
- Maintain & Improve the accuracy, integrity, and maturity of the CMDB.
- Coordinate & Collaborate with customers, delivery teams, and third-party suppliers to ensure consistent SACM practices.
- Drive & Enhance continual improvement initiatives across configuration management and data governance.
- Support & Assure service transition activities through effective configuration control.
- Monitor & Report on CMDB health, configuration compliance, KPIs, and service performance.
- Manage & Validate software and hardware asset information to support operational excellence.
- Assess & Mitigate configuration risks while ensuring compliance with governance frameworks and standards.
- Prepare & Support internal and external audits, regulatory assessments, and compliance activities, including CNI and CAF requirements.
- Champion & Embed best practices in configuration management across federated and multi-supplier environments.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
You'll bring proven experience delivering Service Asset & Configuration Management within complex enterprise environments, with a strong understanding of IT service management, governance, and CMDB best practices. You'll be comfortable working across multiple stakeholders and suppliers, using your analytical and organisational skills to drive process improvement, strengthen data quality, and support secure, compliant service delivery.
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Proven experience managing Service Asset & Configuration Management (SACM) processes.
- Strong knowledge of Configuration Management Database (CMDB) governance and administration.
- Experience working within ITIL service management environments.
- Understanding of software and hardware asset management principles.
- Experience supporting service transition, change, and release processes.
- Strong knowledge of configuration governance, audit, and compliance requirements.
- Experience working across multi-supplier or federated service environments.
- Ability to produce meaningful reports, metrics, and data quality insights.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks, including Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) and Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF) requirements.
