Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range forklifts. This role requires a strong mechanical background, proficiency with electrical systems, and experience with fabrication and welding. The ideal applicant will demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, forklifts, and other machinery
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
- Perform repairs including welding, soldering, fabrication, and assembly of components
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to repair or replace faulty parts
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs performed
- Assist in the installation of new equipment and modifications to existing machinery
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and industry regulations
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with team members and clients regarding equipment status and repairs
- Perform heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to health and safety protocols
Experience
- Proven experience in heavy equipment maintenance or similar role within construction or industrial environments
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in repairing excavators, forklifts, or similar machinery
- Proficiency in reading schematics and electrical diagrams
- Skilled in welding, soldering, fabrication, and assembly techniques
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and specialised diagnostic equipment
- Knowledge of electrical systems related to heavy machinery is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and quality standards
- Customer service orientation with good communication skills

Hours: Monday to Friday 7:00am - 17:00pm
Rate of Pay: Dependant on experience
Holiday Allowance: 30 days increasing by one day each year of service, to a maximum of 35 days
