Overview

This role will start off at 10 hours per week, but the hours are likely to increase over time, and full time hours will be required to cover the other caretaker's holidays.
The hours will be given and confirmed one week in advance.
A rough idea of hours: Thursday 8am-1pm, Satuday 1pm-3pm and Friday and Sunday up to 3 hours/day when needed.
Duties
- Perform thorough commercial cleaning of all designated areas, including offices, restrooms, hallways, and communal spaces
- Maintain cleanliness by sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing surfaces regularly
- Manage waste disposal efficiently by emptying bins and recycling containers in accordance with environmental standards
- Conduct routine inspections to identify cleaning needs or maintenance issues and report them promptly
- Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are well-maintained, stocked, and used safely
- Follow health and safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a hygienic environment at all times
- Support additional caretaking responsibilities such as light maintenance tasks or setting up spaces for events when needed
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial work with a strong understanding of cleaning procedures
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and steam cleaners effectively
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure high standards of cleanliness are consistently met
- Good organizational skills to prioritize tasks efficiently throughout the day
- Strong communication skills for reporting issues or supplies needs clearly and promptly and working as part of a team
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a positive attitude
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to cleaning practices is highly desirable
