JOB DESCRIPTION – Childminder Assistant (Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare desired)

Wednesday 8:00am-5.00pm
Thursday 8:00am-5.00pm
Pay: £13-£14 per hour. (Depending on qualification and experience)

Requirements
Two satisfactory relevant references
Disclosure and Barring Scheme check at Enhanced level.
To undertake relevant statutory training to support the role such as safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid training.
To demonstrate that you can read effectively and are able to communicate clearly and accurately in spoken and written English.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in the daily care and supervision of children of various ages.
· Taking children on local outings, to the park and adventures.
· Support children’s learning and development through play-based activities.
· Help plan and prepare age-appropriate activities.
· Always ensure children’s safety and wellbeing.
· Assist with meal and snack preparation, following food hygiene training.
· Support children’s personal care, including toileting, handwashing, and encouraging good hygiene practices.
· Help maintain a clean, safe, and organised childcare environment.
· Observe children’s behaviour and development and report any concerns to the registered childminder.
· Have a clear understanding and adhere to and promote policies and procedures of Milestone House Childminding
· Promote positive behaviour using appropriate strategies.
· Communicate professionally with parents and carers when delivering feedback on child daily activities and/or development.
· Assist with setting up and tidying away equipment and resources.
Personal Specification
· It is desired to hold a childcare qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years)
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
· Ability to work as part of a team.
· Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
· Has a genuine passion for working with young children.
· Is warm, patient, caring and enthusiastic.
· Loves interacting with children at their level.
· Is willing to complete any required training.
Desirable
· Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting.
· Paediatric First Aid certificate.
· Food Hygiene certificate.
· Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Safeguarding
The successful applicant will be expected to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and must comply with all safeguarding policies and procedures. An enhanced DBS check and suitable references will be required before employment.
