Learner Support Assistant – Tranmere/ Birkenhead
Location: Tranmere/ Birkenhead, Merseyside
Salary: £26,300 to £29,200 per annum (FTE, based on 37.5 hours per week)
Type: Part-time, Permanent (26.25 hours per week, 1 year fixed term)

We are seeking a dedicated and approachable Learner Support Assistant to join our Tranmere site. This part-time, contract role is essential to ensuring our learners receive the guidance and assistance they need to succeed. You will work closely with teaching staff and learners, providing tailored support that makes a real difference.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to learners, adapting approaches to meet individual needs.
- Assist learners with understanding course material and developing study skills.
- Support learners with additional needs, including those with learning difficulties or disabilities, ensuring an inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, tutors, and other support staff to monitor learner progress and share relevant feedback.
- Help prepare learning materials and resources to enhance learner engagement.
- Encourage positive behaviour and motivate learners to build confidence and independence.
- Maintain accurate records of learner support activities and report any concerns promptly.
- Contribute to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners at all times.
- Experience working in an educational or learner support role is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage effectively with diverse learners.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting learners’ development.
- Basic understanding of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy educational setting.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Level 2 English and Maths qualifications or equivalent preferred.
