About the Role
Wrexham is a major centre for manufacturing engineering and industrial operations and at IMR Crane and Lifting Services we support businesses that depend on reliable lifting equipment technical expertise and safe engineering practices.
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager who can take ownership of engineering performance maintenance standards technical projects and continuous improvement across our crane and lifting operations.
You will work closely with field service workshop operations parts procurement and project teams to ensure equipment is maintained effectively technical issues are resolved quickly and engineering activities meet operational safety and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Management: Oversee engineering activities across workshop field service and maintenance operations and ensure work is completed to agreed standards.
Maintenance Strategy: Develop and improve preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for cranes lifting equipment and associated mechanical systems.
Technical Support: Provide guidance on complex mechanical electrical hydraulic and equipment related issues and support effective fault resolution.
Project Delivery: Coordinate engineering projects equipment upgrades installations refurbishments and improvement programmes from planning through completion.
Team Leadership: Guide engineers technicians and operational staff while maintaining clear expectations around performance safety quality and accountability.
Reliability Improvement: Review equipment performance recurring faults and maintenance data and implement practical improvements that increase reliability and availability.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure engineering activities follow relevant safety requirements technical standards operating procedures and internal controls.
Stakeholder Management: Communicate engineering priorities technical risks project progress and operational requirements clearly to internal stakeholders and external partners.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: At least 6 years of experience in mechanical engineering heavy equipment lifting equipment maintenance industrial engineering or a closely related field including experience with engineering leadership responsibilities.
Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical systems maintenance practices fault diagnosis equipment reliability and technical project delivery.
Leadership Skills: Able to guide technical teams coordinate priorities and maintain high standards of engineering performance and accountability.
Problem Solving: Strong technical judgement with the ability to investigate complex equipment issues identify root causes and implement practical solutions.
Commercial Awareness: Comfortable balancing engineering quality equipment availability maintenance cost and operational requirements.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to engineering and non engineering stakeholders.
Organisation: Able to manage multiple engineering priorities projects maintenance activities and operational deadlines effectively.
Tools: Experience with maintenance management systems engineering documentation reporting platforms or asset management systems is preferred.
Mindset: You are technically confident safety focused and improvement driven. You take ownership of engineering challenges make practical decisions based on evidence and continually look for ways to improve equipment reliability team performance and operational efficiency.
Pay: £5,000.00-£5,800.00 per month
