AMP are a Southampton based Property Maintenance company, who work closely with a local Letting Agent managing the repairs for a large property portfolio.
We are recruiting for a handyperson to join this busy team. You may currently be self-employed, or just looking for a fresh challenge from your present employment, but most importantly you produce consistently high standards of work for your customers. You must be reliable, organised and prepared to work as part of a team of contractors and office staff.
Your days will be varied - you could be changing a lock, unblocking a sink, painting a property, or helping another contractor to board a ceiling. Based on our knowledge of the kinds of jobs we are booking in, you must have the following practical skills as a minimum:
· Carpentry: Ability to work with wood, build or repair structures, and install fixtures.
· Plumbing: Basic knowledge of plumbing systems, repairing leaks, and installing or repairing pipes.
· Electrical work: Familiarity with basic electrical repairs, such as changing outlets and switches.
· Painting: Skill in preparing surfaces, applying paint, and finishing.
The above is not an exhaustive list of skills and you would be expected to carry out other work duties within your knowledge; you must also be prepared to learn from other contractors to expand on these.
Qualifications are desirable but not mandatory, but you will be expected to have at least 5 years’ experience in property maintenance and be able to supply checkable work references.
You may also be required to help office staff prepare quotes by visiting properties and identifying repairs, the materials required to complete the work and the time required. You should have the ability to help plan larger jobs, and the flexibility to attend emergency jobs when required. Your working hours will be Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm, and you will also eventually be included on the on-call rota covering occasional evenings and weekends. A full driving licence is essential as you will be working alone to complete most of your jobs. Van and tools can be supplied but it is preferable that you already have these to some degree.
