York Mind have operated a successful adult counselling service for over 30 years. Over this time, we have developed our offer from solely supporting adults, to providing young people’s counselling and adult coaching. We have progressed to providing counselling in local colleges.
Counselling is delivered by both employed and volunteer counsellors. We also support student placements.
Following an operational review, we are now looking to recruit an experienced manager to lead on our Adult Counselling offer and ensure its sustainability and growth.
You will work closely with employed and volunteer counsellors and other staff to ensure a high-quality service is delivered. You will have overall responsibility for the service and will work collaboratively with other service managers, as an integral part of the York Mind Managers Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape crucial services that support the mental health and wellbeing of residents across York.
Please note: You must have a graduate diploma in Counselling or Psychotherapy and be a current member of UKCP, or BACP to apply.
Main duties:

To provide overall operational management for the adult counselling and York College Service.
- To provide line management for paid staff x 3 and oversight of volunteers.
- Provide ongoing monitoring and evaluation for the services.
- To work with Head of Services and Head of Finance to develop the adult service to ensure growth and sustainability.
- To develop and contribute to effective partnerships for the services.
- To act in a safeguarding capacity for the service and wider York Mind organisation as part of a leadership team.
