Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Warehouse Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations, including materials handling, stock management, and shipping and receiving activities. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with warehouse experience or mechanical knowledge to develop their skills within a dynamic environment. The position involves physical tasks such as heavy lifting and requires familiarity with warehouse management systems and equipment like forklifts.
Duties
- Assist with loading and unloading goods using appropriate equipment, including forklifts where certified.
- Manage stock levels through accurate stocking, picking, and packing of items in accordance with company procedures.
- Operate warehouse management systems (such as AS400) to track inventory movements and update records.
- Support shipping and receiving processes by preparing items for dispatch and verifying incoming deliveries.
- Handle materials safely and efficiently, ensuring proper storage and organisation within the warehouse.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the warehouse area to ensure safety standards are met.
- Conduct routine mechanical checks on equipment and report any issues for maintenance or repair.
- Assist in general warehouse tasks, including construction-related activities if required, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse operations or related fields such as construction or materials handling.
- Familiarity with forklift operation (certification preferred).
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems, particularly AS400.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic repairs or troubleshooting on equipment.
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in stock management processes.
- Experience with picking & packing, shipping & receiving procedures.
