About the Role
Forex Cargo UK Ltd is looking for an organised, customer-focused and commercially aware Cargo Operations Coordinator to support the efficient movement of international cargo from customer booking through collection, processing, shipment and final delivery.
The successful candidate will coordinate cargo bookings, collection schedules, shipment documentation, tracking updates and communication with customers, drivers, warehouse teams, shipping partners and overseas agents. They will help ensure that consignments are processed accurately, dispatched on schedule and delivered in accordance with operational and regulatory requirements.
This position is suitable for a logistics professional with practical experience in cargo operations, freight coordination, transport administration or international shipping who is ready to take greater responsibility for daily operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate customer cargo bookings and shipment requests
- Record accurate customer, collection and delivery information
- Confirm cargo dimensions, quantities and service requirements
- Schedule residential and commercial cargo collections
- Coordinate collection routes with drivers and transport partners
- Issue booking confirmations and collection instructions
- Monitor scheduled collections and follow up on delays
- Coordinate cargo intake with warehouse and dispatch teams
- Verify that consignments are labelled and recorded correctly
- Maintain accurate shipment and customer records
- Prepare and review shipping documentation
- Check manifests, booking references and consignment details
- Ensure that documentation is complete before cargo dispatch
- Coordinate consolidation of cargo for international shipment
- Monitor container-loading and shipment-preparation schedules
- Communicate cut-off dates and estimated departure times
- Track cargo throughout collection, processing and transit
- Provide customers with accurate shipment-status updates
- Investigate delayed, missing or incorrectly recorded consignments
- Liaise with shipping lines, freight agents and overseas partners
- Support the coordination of cargo arriving at destination ports
- Follow up with delivery partners regarding final-mile distribution
- Manage customer enquiries by telephone, email and digital channels
- Explain service requirements, collection procedures and transit expectations
- Resolve routine booking, documentation and tracking concerns
- Escalate complex operational issues to the appropriate manager
- Support the handling of damaged, delayed or disputed consignments
- Record complaints, resolutions and corrective actions
- Coordinate claims information with customers and service partners
- Monitor service levels and shipment-performance indicators
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly operational reports
- Maintain collection, dispatch and delivery tracking spreadsheets
- Identify recurring delays and operational process issues
- Recommend practical improvements to booking and shipment workflows
- Coordinate with finance regarding payments and outstanding balances
- Verify that required charges have been recorded correctly
- Support customer quotations and service-pricing enquiries
- Maintain organised electronic and physical documentation
- Follow data-protection and customer-confidentiality procedures
- Assist with peak-season planning and increased cargo volumes
- Provide operational support to drivers and warehouse employees
- Contribute to reliable, efficient and customer-focused cargo services
Qualifications and Experience
- At least two years of experience in logistics, freight, transport, shipping or cargo operations
- Experience coordinating bookings, collections or deliveries
- Practical understanding of transport and warehouse processes
- Experience preparing or checking operational documentation
- Ability to maintain accurate shipment and customer records
- Confidence communicating with customers and logistics partners
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple bookings and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good numerical and administrative skills
- Ability to investigate and resolve operational discrepancies
- Experience handling customer enquiries and service issues
- Ability to remain calm when managing delays or urgent requests
- Strong written and verbal English-language skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Ability to use booking, tracking or transport-management systems
- Confidence working independently and as part of an operational team
- Willingness to support occasional peak-period or weekend operations
- Right to work in the United Kingdom
Preferred Experience
- Experience in international freight forwarding or cargo services
- Familiarity with sea-freight and container-shipping processes
- Experience coordinating door-to-door cargo collections
- Knowledge of balikbayan-box or personal-effects shipping services
- Familiarity with customs and export documentation
- Experience using transport-management or warehouse-management systems
- Knowledge of cargo manifests and consignment tracking
- Experience working with third-party couriers and delivery partners
- Familiarity with route-planning tools
- Experience supporting claims or service-recovery processes
- Knowledge of UK GDPR and customer-data requirements
- Experience working with international or multilingual customers
- Knowledge of Filipino culture or community services
- Filipino-language skills, including Tagalog, would be beneficial
- Experience supporting high-volume seasonal operations
Pay: £25,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
