Warehouse Operative

Rubys Bakery Ltd is a growing family-run bakery based in Burgess Hill, West Sussex. As demand for our award-winning cakes continues to grow, we're looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Warehouse Operative to join our busy team.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, ideal for someone who enjoys keeping things organised, takes pride in their work and can work both independently and as part of a team.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 10:00am – 6:00pm
- Flexibility will be required during busy periods.
- Overtime may be available and is paid at your normal hourly rate.
Key Responsibilities
- Receiving and checking deliveries into the warehouse.
- Breaking down pallets and storing stock in designated locations.
- Operating a counterbalance forklift (current licence essential).
- Picking customer orders and preparing pallets for collection.
- Booking transport collections with our haulage partners.
- Loading delivery vehicles with finished products.
- Putting finished products into stock and ensuring correct stock rotation.
- Maintaining warehouse organisation and maximising storage space.
- Carrying out warehouse cleaning, including operating a floor scrubber/dryer.
- Liaising with suppliers and booking inbound deliveries.
- Working closely with our delivery drivers and production team.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Organised with excellent time management skills.
- Able to work independently as well as within a team.
- Physically fit and comfortable with regular manual handling (up to 25kg).
- Experienced within a warehouse environment.
- Confident using a counterbalance forklift (valid licence required).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
- A good communicator with a positive, can-do attitude.
Preferred
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
