About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work across Primary and Secondary settings, supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs.
You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils access learning while also supporting their emotional wellbeing, behaviour and personal development.
This role would suit someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about building positive relationships with pupils who may require additional support to engage successfully in education.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN
- Support pupils across both Primary and Secondary settings
- Help pupils access learning through personalised and differentiated support
- Provide support with behavioural and emotional needs
- Promote positive behaviour and help pupils develop appropriate strategies for managing emotions
- Support pupils experiencing difficulties with mental health and wellbeing
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and resilience
- Help pupils manage challenging situations and barriers to learning
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to provide consistent support
- Follow individual support plans, behaviour strategies and EHCP targets where appropriate
- Monitor pupil progress and behaviour and provide feedback to relevant staff
- Encourage positive interactions and relationships between pupils
- Support pupils during lessons, transitions, breaktimes and other school activities
- Contribute to creating a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is essential
- Experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis
- Experience supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional or social needs
- A genuine interest in supporting children's and young people's mental health and wellbeing
- A calm, patient and resilient approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to remain consistent and supportive when managing challenging behaviour
- A positive and proactive approach to promoting good behaviour
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider team
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
- Relevant Teaching Assistant, SEN or childcare qualifications are desirable but not essential
- Must have a DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply

Pay: £95.00-£115.00 per day
