Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant/Cook to join our team Here at Polpeor cafe. This role involves supporting the preparation and cooking of meals in a busy kitchen environment, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality. The ideal candidate will have good organisational skills, and experience working in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and measuring ingredients
- Cook and assemble meals according to specified recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils
- Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to at all times
- Support the team during busy service periods by efficiently serving meals to customers or clients
- Restock supplies as needed and monitor stock levels for ingredients and kitchen essentials
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently to promote a safe working environment
- Assist with washing up, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food preparation or cooking is essential
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is desirable
- Experience working in a restaurant/cafe or catering environment is advantageous
- Good organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends if necessary
