About the Role
Nexis Academy is looking to recruit highly skilled and qualified plumbing professionals to join our growing team. We are seeking experienced individuals to deliver, assess and internally quality assure our Level 2 and Level 3 Plumbing qualifications.
We are recruiting for the following roles (candidates may apply for one role or a combination):
Plumbing Tutor / Teacher
Plumbing Assessor
Internal Quality Assurer (IQA)
You will be responsible for training the next generation of qualified plumbers, ensuring learners develop the practical skills, technical knowledge and professional standards required to work safely and competently in the plumbing and heating industry.
Key Responsibilities
As a Plumbing Tutor / Teacher you will:
Deliver high-quality theory and practical training across Level 2 and Level 3 Plumbing qualifications.
Teach core subjects including: hot and cold water systems, central heating, sanitation, drainage, health & safety, building regulations, and basic electrical work for plumbers.
Prepare learners for practical assessments, theory exams and end-point assessments (where applicable).
Use a variety of teaching methods including workshop demonstrations, classroom delivery and simulated work environments.
Support learners with portfolio development and exam preparation.
As a Plumbing Assessor you will:
Carry out accurate and fair assessments of learners’ practical skills and knowledge in both workshop and workplace settings.
Assess against awarding organisation standards and provide clear, constructive feedback.
Maintain detailed and compliant assessment records and documentation.
Support learners through the assessment process and help them achieve their qualification.
As an IQA (Internal Quality Assurer) you will:
Monitor and sample assessment decisions to ensure consistency, fairness and compliance.
Observe assessors and provide feedback, standardisation and support.
Ensure all assessment and quality assurance processes meet awarding body and regulatory requirements.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our plumbing programmes.
Occupational Competence
Strong, current experience working as a qualified plumber in domestic and/or commercial environments.
Plumbing Qualification
Minimum NVQ/SVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing (or equivalent recognised qualification).
Teaching Qualification (for Tutor role)
Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent, e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE).
Assessor Qualification
Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent (A1/D32/D33).
IQA Qualification (for IQA role)
Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (or equivalent – V1/D34).
Additional Certificates (highly desirable but essential for certain modules):
Water Regulations / Water Byelaws
Unvented Hot Water Systems (G3)
Pay: £25.00-£40.00 per hour
