The Group includes Tulway Engineering, Tulway Fabrications and Tulway Energy. The company operates from three locations in the UK - Head Office in Knowsley, Merseyside, and two further fabrication facilities in Middlesbrough. The business has ambitious growth plans and is seeking an experienced Group Financial Controller to work closely with the Directors and senior leadership team. The role will be based in Middlesbrough and will support all Group companies by driving financial efficiency, strengthening financial control and providing clear commercial insight to support strategic decision-making and continued growth.

The role
This is a newly created, senior, hands-on position with responsibility for financial reporting, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, project performance and financial control across the Group. Working closely with the Directors, operational managers and commercial teams, the successful candidate will provide accurate financial information, board-level commentary and clear commercial insight. Key responsibilities include:
· Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, KPI reports and Group reporting packs, including board-level commentary.
· Manage cash flow, working capital and short- and medium-term financial forecasting across the Group.
· Lead the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts and detailed variance analysis.
· Monitor project profitability, margins and cost-to-complete forecasts, identifying and addressing financial or commercial risks.
· Oversee invoicing, debt collection, retentions, accounts payable, supplier payments and payroll processes.
· Maintain strong financial controls and ensure consistent application across all Group companies.
· Oversee month-end and year-end processes and manage statutory accounts, audit, VAT, PAYE, CIS and tax compliance requirements.
· Support banking, insurance, funding and investment requirements, providing accurate information to external advisers and stakeholders as required.
· Work closely with operational and commercial teams to improve project performance, profitability and decision-making.
· Lead, manage and develop the finance team, establishing clear responsibilities, standards and development priorities.
· Improve financial systems, processes and management information to support efficient, scalable growth.

Qualifications and Experience
You will be a fully qualified accountant - ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent - with significant experience as a Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller or senior finance manager within a growing business.
Experience within engineering, construction, manufacturing or another project-based business.
Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and working capital experience.
A good understanding of project accounting, contract profitability, margins and cost-to-complete forecasting.
Strong knowledge of statutory reporting, year-end processes, audit and tax compliance.
Experience of reporting across a multi-entity group is desirable, together with experience using accounting software such as Xero or Sage and strong spreadsheet and management reporting skills.
Pay: £60,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
