PURPOSE OF POST:
Mind in Gwent, as part of its Income Generation and Business Development strategy, is seeking to increase the amount of money raised through commercial and voluntary income sources – including community fundraising, individual giving, events, training, local corporates, and paid-for wellbeing services.
The Community Fundraising and Events Coordinator will be responsible for increasing the income generated through community fundraising and events. They will lead on coordinating, expanding and developing community fundraising and events while enhancing Mind in Gwent’s profile to encourage connections with our local community, and increase fundraising and commercial income.
Working alongside the Head of Income Generation and Business Development (HOIG), the Community Fundraising and Events Coordinator will have an exciting opportunity to expand and develop Mind in Gwent’s community fundraising and event work, contribute to other income generation activity at Mind in Gwent and in the process develop their own skills as a fundraiser.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. To plan and coordinate Mind in Gwent’s community fundraising and events activity. This includes working closely with the HOIG to produce income projections, managing a pipeline of activities, and monitoring performance against budget.
2. To act as the first point of contact for all fundraising and event enquiries, and to respond promptly to all requests for information and resources to supporters running their own events ensuring that supporters are aware of their responsibilities when hosting “in aid of” events.
3. To ensure that all supporters have a positive experience, and are given the appropriate level of support based on their needs and on the scale of their activities or event.
4. To acknowledge donations received, including online donations, and to appropriately thank all donors in a timely fashion.
5. To record accurately all donations, fundraising activity, events and supporters in line with GDPR on our supporter database and to use this information to provide reports, inform supporter journeys, collate case studies, quotes and other evidence, to showcase the work of Mind in Gwent and demonstrate its impact.
6. To positively influence the local reputation of Mind in Gwent, including through proactive communications, social media, website updates and supporter correspondence.
7. To encourage repeat fundraising activity and long-term relationships with Mind in Gwent by developing and coordinating a professional programme of donor stewardship.
8. To proactively seek out fundraising opportunities, including organising and developing a Mind in Gwent’s own fundraising events, in order to maximise income whilst also developing Mind in Gwent’s local profile.
9. To lead and manage Mind in Gwent’s event programme, including Mental Elf, Newport Marathon Festival, Cardiff Half Marathon and others, ensuring that supporters have a positive experience whilst also maximising fundraising income.
10. To recruit and supervise fundraising volunteers to assist with specific projects.
11. To manage Mind in Gwent’s fundraising resources and merchandise when used by supporters, including maintaining accurate records of collection boxes and buckets, and take steps to minimise the risks of theft and fraud.
12. To bank fundraised income as required and ensure that all cash is handled in accordance with Mind in Gwent’s policies and with the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice.
13. To represent Mind in Gwent at external events and forums. To present and promote the overall objectives and impact of the charity including Mind in Gwent’s programme of training courses, talks, workplace counselling and consultancy to local organisations, including businesses, statutory sector and third sector organisations.
