Assistant Head Housekeeper

Salary: £28,000 per annum plus monthly service charge
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Ellenborough Park is looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Head Housekeeper to join our Housekeeping team at our luxury five-star hotel in the heart of the Cotswolds.
This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and hands-on housekeeping professional who takes pride in maintaining exceptional standards whilst leading and developing a dedicated team. Working closely with the Head Housekeeper, you will help ensure our guest bedrooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces consistently reflect the luxury experience our guests expect.

The Role
As Assistant Head Housekeeper, you will support the day-to-day management of the Housekeeping department, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation and guest satisfaction are achieved at all times.
You will assist with supervising the housekeeping team, planning daily workloads, monitoring quality standards, managing stock and helping to control departmental costs. You will also play an important role in coaching, training and developing team members to deliver consistently outstanding service.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to motivate a team whilst maintaining exceptional operational standards.
Working Hours
- 37.5 hours per week
- Shifts between 9:00am and 9:00pm
- Weekend working required on a rota basis
- Additional hours available during busy periods
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Housekeeper with the daily operation of the Housekeeping department.
- Lead, motivate and supervise the housekeeping team to deliver exceptional standards.
- Inspect guest bedrooms and public areas to ensure five-star presentation standards are maintained.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest feedback and requests.
- Assist with rota planning and labour scheduling in line with business levels.
- Help control departmental payroll, stock and operating costs.
- Manage housekeeping stores and ensure appropriate stock levels of linen, cleaning products and guest amenities.
- Carry out regular stock takes and maintain accurate records.
- Support the recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development of team members.
- Conduct quality checks and coach team members to maintain consistently high standards.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Fire Safety and company policies.
- Work closely with Maintenance to ensure guest room defects are reported and resolved promptly.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance both the guest experience and departmental performance.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous supervisory or management experience within a housekeeping department.
- Experience within a four or five-star hotel would be an advantage, although we welcome applications from candidates with strong housekeeping leadership experience from other quality hospitality environments.
- Leads by example with a hands-on approach.
- Has exceptional attention to detail and takes pride in maintaining the highest standards.
- Can motivate, coach and develop others.
- Is highly organised with excellent time management skills.
- Can remain calm and effective in a busy environment.
- Has strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Is confident using hotel IT systems and Microsoft Office.
- Has a flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
