Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate part time Kennel Hand to join our team. This role involves caring for animals in a professional environment, ensuring their well-being and comfort. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a busy setting. Prior veterinary experience or animal care knowledge is highly desirable. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop skills within animal welfare and customer service.
Duties
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and surrounding areas to maintain hygiene standards
- Feed animals according to specified schedules and dietary requirements
- Assist with the bathing, grooming, and general handling of animals
- Monitor animals for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to senior staff
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions from visitors or pet owners
- Assist with the intake and discharge of animals, ensuring proper documentation is completed
- Support veterinary staff during examinations or treatments as needed
- Heavy lifting of supplies, equipment, or animals when required to facilitate daily operations
Skills
- Previous veterinary experience or animal care background is advantageous
- Strong understanding of animal behaviour and welfare needs
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanour
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Organised with attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and record keeping
- Compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Pay: £12.71 per hour
