Hampshire Archive Service has some exciting opportunities for Archives Assistants to join our team based in Winchester.
You will work flexibly across several task areas, including:
- Working as part of a team to help run the public search room and support customers with their research;
- Retrieving documents from our strongrooms; and
- Assisting visitors at reception.
The successful person will have a good general education and be able to illustrate in their application the following skills criteria:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ideally with customer service experience
- Good communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to adapt your communication style
- Ability to work consistently under pressure
- Ability to work well as a team member by supporting colleagues and developing good working relationships
- A methodical approach to work and good attention to detail
- Proficiency with IT systems
- A level of fitness that will enable you to fulfil the physical aspects of the role
Part-time working hours will need to be on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. You will also be required to work occasional Saturdays (usually 1 per year). The roles are based at Hampshire Record Office in Winchester and there is no scope for home working. As part of your application, please tell us what hours you would be interested in doing, whether full time (37 hours/week) or part-time (22.5 hours/week).
