CI Optometrists – Chichester£27,000–£30,000 FTE per year, depending on experience
Full-time or Part-time | Permanent
About the role
CI Optometrists is a friendly, independent optometry practice in Chichester, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, highly organised Practice Administrator / Optical Advisor to join our growing team.
This is a varied role and much more than a traditional reception position. You will play an important part in the day-to-day running of the practice, combining excellent patient care with reception, administration and back-office responsibilities.
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people, takes pride in providing excellent service and is just as comfortable welcoming patients and answering the telephone as they are getting stuck into the administrative work that keeps a busy practice running smoothly.
Previous optical experience would be an advantage, but it is not essential. Finding the right person is more important to us, and full training in the optical aspects of the role can be provided.
We are happy to consider either a full-time or part-time appointment, and there may be some flexibility around the working pattern for the right candidate.
What you’ll be doing
The role is varied and will include:
- Welcoming patients and ensuring they receive a warm, professional and personal service
- Managing appointments, telephone calls, emails and patient enquiries
- Patient correspondence, recalls and general practice administration
- Processing payments and maintaining accurate patient records
- Liaising with optical laboratories, suppliers and other healthcare professionals
- Helping to manage the smooth flow of patients through the practice
- Supporting our optometrists and dispensing team
- Assisting with a variety of back-office and organisational tasks
- Learning about frames, lenses and optical products
- With training, helping patients with frame selection and their eyewear
- Taking ownership of tasks and helping us continually improve the way the practice operates
About you
You may already be working as an Optical Assistant or Optical Advisor and be looking for your next role. Alternatively, you might come from private healthcare, dentistry, audiology, hospitality or another professional customer-facing or administrative environment.
We would particularly like to meet someone who is:
- Warm, friendly and confident with people
- Highly organised, dependable and able to multitask
- An excellent communicator, both face-to-face and over the telephone
- Comfortable with computers and learning new systems
- Accurate and attentive to detail
- Able to prioritise their workload and use their own initiative
- Happy taking responsibility for administrative and back-office tasks
- Keen to learn and develop new skills
- A genuine team player who enjoys working within a small team
- Committed to providing excellent customer service
What we offer
- £27,000–£30,000 FTE per year, depending on experience (pro rata for part-time)
- Full-time or part-time considered
- Permanent position
- Predominantly Monday–Friday working, with the occasional Saturday
- Some flexibility around working pattern for the right candidate
- Private medical insurance
- The practice closes over Christmas and the Easter weekend, as well as on Bank Holidays
- Full training in the optical aspects of the role where required
- A varied role with opportunities to develop and take on additional responsibility
- The opportunity to become an important part of a growing independent practice
- A friendly and professional working environment where excellent patient care and service really matter
Interested?
If you’re an experienced Optical Assistant or Optical Advisor looking for a change, we’d love to hear from you.
Equally, if you don’t have optical experience but have excellent administration, organisational and customer-service skills, please don’t let that put you off applying. We’re looking for the right person and are very happy to provide training.
Please apply with your CV and a short introduction telling us a little about yourself and why you think you’d be a good fit for CI Optometrists.
