The role
We are seeking to recruit a People Services Assistant (6 months FTC) to join our People Services team.
In this role, you will provide a people-focused service to the business, supporting the delivery of day-to-day HR operations whilst ensuring a high standard of customer service and compliance. You will be responsible for resolving first-line employee and manager queries, TUPE change management supporting the employee lifecycle, supporting compliance projects including DBS and Right to Work, maintaining accurate employee records and contributing to People projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
You will also support managers by providing initial advice and guidance to help them carry out their people management responsibilities effectively, ensuring policies, processes and legislative requirements are followed.
Alongside your operational responsibilities, you'll support compliance activities, audits and project work across the wider People function, helping to drive service improvements and ensure an excellent colleague experience.

While the role offers flexibility with home-based working, the successful candidate may be required to work from our Birmingham Head Office as needed.

What we’re looking for
The essential requirements for the role include:
- Experience working within an HR or People Services environment.
- Experience supporting HR administration across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, contractual changes and employee records.
- Experience managing or supporting HR compliance activities, such as DBS checks, Right to Work, pre-employment checks or audits and change management.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Experience supporting projects, service improvements or process reviews.
- Ability to interpret and follow HR policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
- Experience using HR systems and maintaining accurate employee records.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of confidentiality, GDPR and handling sensitive employee information.
- Educated to GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or above (or equivalent experience).
- CIPD Level 3 (or working towards) or equivalent HR experience.
