We are looking for a motivated Laboratory Technician (Microbiology) to join our laboratory team. You will support microbiological testing, quality control, and research activities while ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards of accuracy, quality, and compliance.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in laboratory science. Previous laboratory experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform microbiological testing on a range of samples following established laboratory procedures.
- Record and maintain accurate laboratory data using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Ensure all work complies with relevant quality standards and laboratory procedures.
- Assist with the development and improvement of microbiological testing methods.
- Support quality control by checking sample integrity, labelling, and storage.
- Calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Work closely with colleagues to support research and laboratory projects.
- Follow all health and safety policies and maintain a clean, organised laboratory environment.
Requirements
Essential
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and develop new laboratory skills.
Desirable
- Qualification in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Science, or a related scientific discipline.
- Previous laboratory or microbiology experience.
- Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Understanding of microbiological techniques and quality assurance principles.
