Job Summary
We are looking for an alert, approachable and dependable Estate Security Officer to join our high-performing team at Cambridge Science Park. This is an opportunity to play a visible part in the day-to-day life of a leading science and technology community, helping to create an environment in which tenants, visitors and colleagues feel safe, supported and welcome.
You will combine proactive patrols and modern surveillance with excellent customer service and a calm, professional response when circumstances change. No two shifts are the same: one moment you may be greeting visitors or assisting a tenant; the next, monitoring activity, responding to an incident or helping coordinate a facilities issue.
The opportunity
As one of the estate’s most visible operational team members, you will be trusted to use sound judgement, communicate confidently and take pride in high standards. You will work closely with colleagues in a supportive, collaborative culture where your contribution matters.
Responsibilities
- Carry out high-visibility security patrols across the estate, on foot, by bicycle and in electric vehicles, helping to keep the environment secure, safe and running smoothly.
- Operate the Video Surveillance System (VSS/CCTV), identify unusual activity or risks, and take appropriate action in line with procedures.
- Build positive relationships with tenants, visitors and colleagues, delivering a welcoming, responsive and professional presence.
- Respond calmly to medical emergencies, security concerns and facilities matters; coordinate with the team and escalate appropriately to achieve a prompt resolution.
- Maintain accurate records and incident reports, communicate clearly, and contribute to a positive, dependable team environment.

We would particularly welcome applicants who can demonstrate the following:
- An active SIA Security Guard or Door Supervisor Licence — this is essential.
- A CCTV Licence is desirable. Training may be available for the right candidate.
- Strong situational awareness, curiosity and the ability to remain focused in a dynamic environment.
- Confident communication skills, whether assisting a visitor, liaising with senior stakeholders or preparing a clear incident report.
- A reliable, positive and team-oriented approach, with the flexibility to work a 12-hour rotating pattern of days, nights and weekends (days and nights on 4 on 4 off rotation).
