Learning Support Assistant - Alternative Provision
Full-Time | Permanent | September Start
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join an Alternative Provision from September on a full-time, permanent basis.
The school provides a supportive and nurturing environment for young people who may have experienced challenges within mainstream education, helping them develop the confidence, skills and independence needed to successfully transition into adulthood.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to help students engage with their education and reach their full potential.
You will:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students.
- Support students with their learning across a range of subjects.
- Help students overcome barriers to learning and remain engaged in lessons.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
- Support students with SEN and additional learning needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
- Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning resources.
- Support students with their social, emotional and personal development.
- Monitor and communicate student progress and any concerns to the appropriate staff.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
About You
The successful candidate will be patient, supportive and resilient, with a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
You will ideally have:
- Experience working with young people in an educational, care, youth work or support setting.
- Experience supporting students with SEN or additional needs is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with young people.
- A calm, patient and consistent approach.
- The ability to support positive behaviour and manage challenging situations appropriately.
- A flexible approach and willingness to support across different subjects and activities.
- A genuine commitment to helping young people achieve their potential.
