Job Summary
This role is on a 5 day a week self employed basis, workflow is constant and looking to increase in the coming months, exciting potential for the right candidate.
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cable Jointer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical cables and systems, ensuring safety and efficiency in all operations. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work with various tools and equipment. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with relevant experience to contribute to vital infrastructure projects while developing their skills further.
Duties
- Install, connect, and commission electrical cables in accordance with technical specifications and safety standards to UKPN expectations. UKPN authorisation desired.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on existing cable networks to ensure optimal performance.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators to facilitate cable laying and jointing processes.
- Be able to carry out all LV jointing tasks, especially cut out changes.
- Have and use own van to get to various Sites across Sussex or Kent.
- Teams welcome, support person can be provided for the right person.
- Assist with excavation activities safely within designated work zones.
- Apply mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues related to cable systems and associated hardware.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Document work performed accurately for record-keeping and future reference, toughpad literacy preferred.
Experience
- Previous experience in electrical installation or cable jointing is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to electrical infrastructure projects will be beneficial.
- Electrical experience or background in electrical systems is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level candidates willing to learn on the job.
- Full jointing qualifications are required for this role, UKPN authorisation also essential for the role.
