EPA Manufacturing Ltd is a well-established leading specialist ammunition manufacturer working within the global Defence Industry. We have recently moved to a brand-new facility, due to continued expansion. We are an approved supplier to many Defence Organisations in the UK and worldwide, currently exporting to over 30 countries.
This move has created an real opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to join our team.
This position is suited to a well-disciplined person with a methodical approach and an eye for detail, someone who is looking to advance within a growing organisation.
What we are looking for:
This is a senior role in our organisation, and this is not a role where decisions are made elsewhere. No micromanaging, its critical you lead from the front.
This role needs someone who can lead people, hold standards, and improve performance without constant oversight form senior managers.
You will need a deep understanding of all aspects of our processes including safety and quality, you will ensure that all the parts of the production process come together to deliver the final product.
You are the conduit between different departments providing important feedback and communication, it is not about managing problems shift by shift, It is about taking responsibility for the whole operation and running it properly.
You are the glue that holds our organisation together.
Responsibilities of an Operations Manager
Making sure the operation is safe, and compliant, ensuring that health and safety regulations are followed.
Leading and developing the team so standards are clear and consistent
Taking responsibility when things go wrong and fixing the root cause
Implementing production schedules
Working closely with planning, quality, engineering, and senior leadership
Ensuring that communication between departments is ongoing and utilised to maintain an environment of continuous improvement.
Identifying any skills gaps.
Training of staff and managers to ensure that everyone is performing adequately in their role.
Providing a leadership support function to teams and motivating staff to achieve production goals.
Acting as a liaison to senior management to keep them up to date with shop floor matters.
Ensuring key performance indicators are in place and production targets are met.
Implementation of any new policies and procedures relating to the production process.
Introducing and managing in-house IT systems ensuring that they are fit for purpose.
Communicating changes in an order process to relevant parties.
Documenting procedures for third-party monitoring.
Creating and monitoring projects and teams.
Reviewing workloads and manpower to ensure targets are met.
Ensuring staff working on processes are happy and operating efficiently.
