Assistant Manager – The Anchor Inn, Henley-on-Thames
£13.50 per hour + tips + holiday pay
We are looking for a reliable, hands-on and enthusiastic Assistant Manager to join the team at The Anchor Inn, an independent pub in the centre of Henley-on-Thames.
This is a varied role within a busy hospitality environment, ideal for somebody with experience in pubs, bars or restaurants who is confident leading shifts independently and helping maintain high standards across the business.
The Role
You will play a key part in the day-to-day running of the pub, supporting service, leading the team and ensuring excellent customer experiences throughout busy trading periods.
The role will involve:
- Running shifts independently
- Opening and closing the business
- Leading and motivating the front of house team
- Delivering excellent customer service
- Managing busy food and drink service periods
- Supporting with staff training and standards
- Handling customer enquiries and resolving issues professionally
- Working closely with management to maintain smooth daily operations
Hours
- Average of approximately 34 hours per week
- Hours will vary depending on season and business levels
- Typically worked across 4 days per week
- Usual working days are:
- Wednesday
- Friday
- Saturday
- Sunday
- Flexibility is essential, particularly during busy periods and events
Pay & Benefits
- £13.50 per hour
- Additional 12.07% holiday pay paid monthly on top of earnings

About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous hospitality supervisory or management experience
- Be confident running shifts independently
- Thrive in a busy pub environment
- Have strong communication and leadership skills
- Be organised, proactive and reliable
- Be comfortable working evenings and weekends
- Have a genuine passion for hospitality
Experience within pubs, bars or hospitality venues is preferred.
