The opportunity
We are looking for a hands-on Laundry Shift Manager to lead a team of 20-30 colleagues in a fast-paced processing
environment.
You will organise people and workflow, maintain high safety and hygiene standards, and use production and
Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) data to improve shift performance.
You will be visible on the floor, confident making operational decisions and able to turn accurate data into practical action.
Key responsibilities
- Lead shift handovers and concise start-of-shift safety, quality and production briefings.
- Deploy employees across sorting, washing, drying, finishing, folding, packing, dispatch and housekeeping, adjusting
- resources as demand changes.
- Direct 2-4 Team Leaders and maintain clear accountability across a shift of 20-30 people.
- Monitor hourly output, turnaround time, labour efficiency, rewash, damage, downtime and service priorities.
- Remove production bottlenecks and coordinate with maintenance, engineering, transport, quality and other shifts.
- Enforce machinery safety, PPE, chemical handling, manual handling, hygiene and infection-control requirements.
- Manage attendance, breaks, temporary cover and approved overtime; coach colleagues and address performance or
- Respond promptly to equipment failures, shortages, safety events and urgent customer requirements.

- Record planned production time, planned stops, changeovers, unplanned downtime and actual operating time by line or
- Capture target rate, total output, good output, rewash, rejects and damaged items using agreed units and reason codes.
- Validate entries made by operators and Team Leaders so shift data is complete, timely and accurate.
- Calculate and review Availability, Performance, Quality and total OEE against shift, asset and site targets.
- Identify the largest losses, analyse trends and use basic root-cause methods such as 5 Whys.
- Agree corrective actions, owners and due dates; escalate recurring losses and verify that completed actions improve
- Present OEE performance, significant variances and open actions during shift handover and daily review meetings.
- OEE and its Availability, Performance and Quality components by shift and equipment.
- Production-plan achievement, hourly rate and on-time completion or dispatch.
- Unplanned downtime, recurring fault losses and corrective-action completion.
- Rewash, rejection, damage and right-first-time quality.
- Labour productivity, attendance and overtime control.
- Safety performance, near-miss reporting, hygiene and housekeeping standards.

Pay: £32,448.00-£36,000.00 per year

- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
