Job Overview
Tripots is a brand-new hotpot restaurant opening in the heart of Cambridge this September, and we are looking for a Front of House Supervisor to help us build it from day one.
This is not a role for someone who wants to manage from behind a desk. We are looking for someone who loves being on the floor, greeting guests, reading the room, and making every table feel looked after. You will lead the front-of-house team by example, and your warmth and service instincts will set the tone for the whole restaurant.
As our first hire into a leadership role at our first site, you will be involved in everything from pre-opening preparation (recruitment, training, service design, systems and standards) through to daily operations once we open. As the brand grows, so will your role: we want to develop this position into a full Restaurant Manager / General Manager role, and we are looking for someone who wants to grow with us long term. If you are building your career in UK hospitality and want real ownership of your work, this is a real opportunity to shape a restaurant from the ground up.
The restaurant opens in early September; you would join us from August to take part in opening preparations. The role is full-time and in person.
Responsibilities
- Lead the front-of-house team from the floor, delivering warm, attentive, guest-first service at every table.
- Take part in pre-opening work: helping recruit and train the front-of-house team, and building service flows, standards, and daily routines.
- Manage reservations, seating, and table turnover to keep service smooth and efficient.
- Handle guest enquiries, special requests, and complaints with genuine care and professionalism, turning problems into loyal regulars.
- Oversee food presentation and support the kitchen team during busy periods, keeping front-of-house and back-of-house communication seamless.
- Manage rotas, staffing, and day-to-day team supervision.
- Monitor stock levels of service supplies, support cost control, and review operational performance with the owners.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven supervisory or management experience in a restaurant, hotel, or similar hospitality setting (1+ year preferred; restaurant or hotpot experience is a plus).
- A true passion for hospitality: you enjoy serving guests personally and take pride in creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, train, and manage a diverse team.
- Excellent organisation and calm under pressure, maintaining high standards even on the busiest nights.
- Reliability, responsibility, and strong follow-through — someone the team and the owners can count on.
- An intention to build a long-term career in the UK and a desire to grow with a young, ambitious brand.
- Familiarity with food production and kitchen operations is desirable.
- Basic Mandarin is not essential but preferred; the working environment is bilingual (English/Mandarin).
What We Offer
- A founding role at a brand-new restaurant, with genuine input into how it is built and run.
- Real, clearly defined progression: this role is designed to grow into a Restaurant Manager position as the business develops.
- Free staff meals and employee discount.
- Company pension.
- A friendly, supportive, bilingual team culture
