Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Yard Operative/Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of goods within the yard, as well as delivering materials to various locations.
Duties will include (but not limited to)
Materials/Deliveries
- Receiving deliveries and checking goods against delivery notes.
- Storing materials safely and in designated locations.
- Preparing materials for collection or delivery to sites.
- Conducting stock checks and reporting shortages.
Plant, Tools & Equipment
- Issuing tools and equipment to site operatives.
- Checking returned tools for damage or defects.
- Cleaning and maintaining plant and equipment.
- Organising repairs and servicing where required.
- Keeping records of equipment movements.
Yard Organisation
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, and organised yard.
- Ensuring waste is segregated and disposed of correctly.
- Keeping storage areas clearly labelled and accessible.
- Maintaining safe access routes for vehicles and pedestrians.
Health & Safety
- Following company health and safety procedures.
- Reporting hazards, near misses, and accidents.
- Maintaining safe storage of materials, fuels, and hazardous substances.
Security
- Opening and securing the yard at the start and end of the day.
- Monitoring visitors and deliveries.
- Ensuring tools, plant, and materials are securely stored.
Key Skills
- Good organisational skills.
- Awareness of construction materials and equipment.
- Ability to work independently.
- Basic maintenance skills.
- Understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Full UK driving licence

Pay: From £12.70 per hour
