About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate and organised Domestic Abuse Caseworker to join our growing legal team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build their career in domestic abuse and family law and is passionate about helping clients access the legal protection and support they need.
Working closely with our fee earners, you will have an important role in managing the casework process from initial enquiry through to ongoing case progression. You will be responsible for assessing clients for Legal Aid, preparing applications, opening files, drafting statements and ensuring fee earners have the information and documentation they need to progress matters effectively.
This is a hands-on role where attention to detail, organisation and excellent client care are essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct means and merits assessments and assess client eligibility for Legal Aid.
- Prepare and submit Legal Aid Certificate applications, liaising with the Legal Aid Agency and obtaining any outstanding information.
- Manage new client enquiries, open files and complete all necessary onboarding and documentation.
- Maintain accurate case files, records and deadlines, ensuring matters progress efficiently.
- Draft client statements, chronologies and supporting documentation, and assist with evidence gathering and case preparation.
- Work closely with fee earners to provide case updates, prepare files and follow up outstanding actions.
- Assist with preparation for hearings, appointments and applications, including factual and legal research where required.
- Identify and promptly escalate any urgent, safeguarding or other matters requiring fee earner attention.
- Communicate with clients in a professional, sensitive and empathetic manner, particularly when dealing with vulnerable clients.
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, empathetic and detail-oriented, with:
- Previous experience in a caseworker, legal caseworker, family law or domestic abuse role.
- Experience of Legal Aid, means and merits assessments and/or Legal Aid applications.
- Experience drafting statements or preparing client evidence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong file management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- The confidence to work independently while collaborating effectively with fee earners.
- A professional and compassionate approach to working with vulnerable clients.
- A strong commitment to confidentiality, client care and professional standards.
