Norse TFM is currently recruiting for an Operations Manager to join the team on a full time, permanent basis. This will be based at our Head Office - Unity Place. Our Maintenance and Engineering team delivers a comprehensive range of services nationwide, including compliance, reactive maintenance, remedial works, and projects. Our highly skilled and adaptable team partners with clients across both the public and private sectors, from tier-one commercial operators to local authorities.
What You'll Do:
As a Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring all reactive, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and project works are delivered safely, reliably, and efficiently, in full compliance with statutory, regulatory, and company standards. You will take ownership of the day-to-day running of the operation, including financial and commercial performance, people management, client relationships, compliance, Health & Safety, and departmental budgets. Alongside this your day to day duties will include;
Provide strong leadership, management, and direction to the engineering function, ensuring alignment with Norse Group values and strategic objectives.
Lead multidisciplinary teams, delivering high-quality services across reactive, PPM, and project works.
Ensure full compliance with all current legislation, statutory regulations, and industry best practice, supported by technical leads.
Oversee quality management across all disciplines, ensuring compliance with accreditations, audit standards, KPIs, SLAs, and governing bodies
Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture, ensuring all risk assessments and safe systems of work are adhered to.
Plan, prioritise, and control workloads and labour resources to meet reactive deadlines and achieve full completion of planned works within target timeframes.
Ensure effective deployment and utilisation of plant, equipment, and calibrated tools.
Review and optimise maintenance schedules to drive performance and ensure consistent service delivery.
Maintain and enhance business systems and databases to support operational delivery, reporting, and efficiency.
Lead, manage, coach, and develop high-performing, multi-skilled teams, promoting cross-training and resilience.
Identify skills gaps and implement training and development plans to ensure capability and compliance.
Take full ownership of departmental budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and delivery against financial targets.
Manage project budgets, including labour, materials, and subcontractors.
Contribute to and deliver annual business plans and performance targets.
Monitor performance against budgets and business plans, ensuring objectives are achieved cost-effectively.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to support service delivery and long-term strategic goals.
Ensure all client requirements are delivered to agreed deadlines, specifications, and quality standards, with proactive communication and expectation management.
Represent the Company in a technical capacity with clients, suppliers, government bodies, and key stakeholders to secure optimal commercial and contractual outcomes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, using performance data, root cause analysis, and innovation to enhance service delivery.
Support and contribute to marketing, business development strategies, and bid activities at both local and national levels.
Who We're Looking For:
Our successful candidate;
Proven experience in the management of public sector/commercial contracts and contract mobilisation.
Significant experience of leading and managing a multi-disciplinary team.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines, delivering on service level agreements and KPI driven targets.
Strong numerical and literacy skills with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook.
Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to inform, persuade and influence decision makers at all levels.
Ability to prepare concise written documents and reports, able to present key data sets and business proposals to key stakeholders.
Full UK Driving Licence to meet the travel requirements of the position
