About the Role
EgyBoard Technology and Industrial Solutions is looking for an experienced and motivated General Accountant to join our team in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the company’s day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reconciliations, and assisting with month-end and year-end reporting.
You will work closely with finance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, operations, procurement, and management teams to ensure financial information is accurate, properly documented, and available within required reporting deadlines.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with experience in general accounting, financial accounting, management accounts, or finance operations who is organised, dependable, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and accounting entries.
- Prepare and post journals, accruals, prepayments, and other month-end adjustments.
- Complete monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions for accuracy.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes.
- Prepare supporting schedules for management and financial reporting.
- Monitor outstanding balances and investigate accounting discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and supporting documentation.
- Assist with preparation of monthly profit and loss and balance sheet information.
- Work closely with procurement and operations teams to resolve invoice and payment discrepancies.
- Support VAT preparation and maintain appropriate supporting records.
- Assist with fixed asset accounting and maintain the fixed asset register.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis where required.
- Prepare financial information requested by management and other departments.
- Assist external and internal auditors by providing documentation and account reconciliations.
- Ensure accounting activities comply with internal financial procedures and applicable UK requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting controls and administrative efficiency.
- Perform other accounting and finance responsibilities required by the role.
Qualifications and Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, management accounts, or a related finance role.
- Previous experience as a General Accountant, Financial Accountant, Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant, or similar position.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and financial controls.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience using accounting or ERP systems such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics is desirable.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, particularly during month-end reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider finance team.
Preferred Qualifications
- A qualification or ongoing studies in AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or another recognised accounting pathway would be advantageous.
- Degree or professional studies in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Experience working within technology, engineering, industrial services, manufacturing, or business operations.
- Experience preparing management accounts and financial reports.
- Knowledge of UK VAT and general financial reporting requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and financial analysis.
- Experience working with ERP or financial management systems.
- Experience supporting financial audits and year-end processes.
Equivalent relevant accounting experience may be considered where formal professional qualifications have not yet been completed.

Pay: £42,000.00 per year
