The Brockweir Inn is looking for a capable, enthusiastic, enterprising and community-minded Manager to help bring this beautiful, much-loved local pub back to life.
Recently acquired by the community, the Brockweir Inn is reopening with the ambition of becoming a thriving, welcoming pub for local people and visitors alike. As our first Manager, you will have the opportunity to shape how the pub operates and help establish its character, standards and offer from the outset.
The role
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the pub, including:
- Delivering a warm and welcoming customer experience
- Managing staff and volunteers
- Cash handling, stock control and supplier relationships
- Maintaining appropriate operating and compliance standards
- Managing costs and helping build a commercially sustainable business
The Inn will initially open from Thursday to Sunday, with opening hours reviewed as the business develops.
You will work with the community’s Management Committee, to establish the systems, culture and offer that will support long-term success. For the right person, there may also be an opportunity to become the long-term tenant/operator of the Brockweir Inn once planned works to the pub are complete.
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
- Warm, practical, reliable and people-focused
- Comfortable taking responsibility for a busy customer-facing operation
- Commercially aware, with an understanding of costs, margins and service standards
- Able to lead by example and motivate others
- Organised and calm under pressure
- Enterprising and motivated, with the drive to build a thriving, distinctive pub
Previous pub management experience would be ideal but is not essential. We would also welcome applicants with strong management experience from hospitality, catering, events, retail or another hands-on customer-facing environment.
